Butterfly Prayers

During our Father’s Day service, I suggested that you might take a small wooden butterfly and keep it close to you, as a reminder of the prayers we prayed, to bring about change.

As we thought about transformation, I invited you to think and pray about something, or someone, that wasn’t as it should be, and to see, in a butterfly, a sign of hope, that the most unpromising-looking caterpillar could turn into something beautiful. In the end, we ran out of butterflies, and some people were asking for more.

I’ve provided more and have put them on the communion table. If you’d like to take one, as a sign of hope and a reminder of a prayer offered, please do and be blessed.
