It was great that our monthly meeting fell on Palm Sunday this year. Last year it was two weeks later and so did not seem to be quite so appropriate and, of course, we can’t meet on Easter Sunday. We were delighted that Geoff. and Dee Larcombe were with us and Geoff. gave a very challenging talk.
Margaret Thomas, who is partially sighted, had written a very moving poem that she was going to read to us, but unfortunately was unable to get to the meeting because there were no buses running in Mottingham which she did not find out until she had waited some time at the bus stop. She was so disappointed. However, one of our helpers read it instead. Another of our gifted members has had a stroke that has affected her speech but when she sang very beautifully there was amazingly no sign of it. We also all enjoyed singing “Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest” which was transcribed into Braille by Paulette, another gifted and totally blind member. Afterwards, we had a delicious tea that included Hot Cross Buns of course.
MARGARET’S EASTER POEM
“Jesus left his home in heaven
To dwell with folk on earth
For 3 and 30 years He toiled
And gave us all rebirth
He never sinned yet evil men
Killed Him upon a cross
He washed us clean with His shed blood
Causing Satan’s loss.
“Wages of sin is death” says God
We all deserve to die
Christ alone bore our debt of sin.
“Thank you O Lord”, we cry
“It is accomplished” loud He cried
With His final pure breath
He had fulfilled His Father’s will
To grant us forgiveness
Believers and the meek await
Lord Jesus coming reign
With Him on earth we then shall be
Free from all death and pain.
Next month we are looking forward to celebrating our 32nd Birthday. If you have any blind or partially sighted friends who you think might like to join us, I can give you more details.
