This month’s mission focus highlights the work of Bromley Homeless, a local charity.

Walking Alongside: Ruth, Naomi and Bromley Homeless
Naomi had lost everything. Her husband and both sons had died, and she was returning home with nothing. She urged her daughters-in-law to leave her. One did. Ruth did not.
“Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” (Ruth 1:16, NIV)

Ruth couldn’t undo Naomi’s grief. What she offered was presence. She stayed, she listened, and she worked to provide for them both. Her faithfulness turned Naomi’s fear of abandonment into the beginning of hope.
Many people who come to Bromley Homeless can relate to Naomi’s story. Losing a home often means losing much more: relationships, routine, dignity, and the sense that anyone cares whether you are there at all.
As an expression of Christian faith, Bromley Homeless seeks to walk alongside those who feel abandoned and without hope. Our values reflect this:

• We listen. We hear people’s pain without prejudice and without turning away.
• We care. We build lasting relationships founded on trust and respect.
• We empower. We offer advice and support so people can rebuild and move towards a safe, secure home.
• We collaborate. We work alongside churches, partners and volunteers, because together we achieve more.

Our vision is a community where no one facing homelessness feels their only option is to sleep rough.
This winter, as our night shelter season runs, you can help through prayer, volunteering or giving. Together, we can say to someone who feels alone: “Where you go, I will go.”
