Coney Hill Baptist Church

August Sunday Programme

For these four Sundays in August, with a nod to a holiday theme, we will be exploring the great Mountains of the Bible.

There are many options to choose from; mountains play an important part in the Bible story, both literally and figuratively. As I’ve been reading through the Psalms, it’s remarkable how often they are mentioned, typically to invoke the glory of God.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. If you are going away at all over the month and are anywhere near a mountain, take a picture and send it in. We can use it to illustrate our stories and to help us see something more of God with us. – Ian.

  • 10th August – Moriah: The Mountain of Surrender Genesis 22:1-14
  • 17th August – Sinai: The Mountain of Glory Exodus 24:12-18, 33:15-23 (communion)
  • 24th August – Carmel: The Mountain of Decision 1 Kings 18:16-39
  • 31st August – Tabor(?): The Mountain of Transfiguration Matthew 17:1-9 (communion)

I look to the mountains –
does my help come from there? My help comes from the lord, who made heaven and earth!
